Data Discovery in 2 Parts: Part 1: Finding Data with Statista, Part 2: Finding Data About Covid-19 (Love Data Week) Online

Welcome to Love Data Week, an annual celebration of all things data! This year, we offer workshops based on each step in the data lifecycle. Today’s step is: Discover!
For our final day of Love Data Week, we have a double feature related to discovering data. This two part workshop will cover a new data finding tool, and how to find good data about Covid-19. Come for one part or stay for both!
Part 1 begins at 12pm and will cover how to find and use data, trends, and reports about a plethora of subjects, industries, localities, and governments with Temple University LIbraries newest data source: Statista. Business Librarian Adam Shambaugh will demonstrate Statista’s many features and how to get the best, most relevant data for your research.
Part 2 begins at 12:30pm and covers how to find data produced by research about Covid-19 and the pandemic. The enormous amount of research spurred on by the current pandemic has created a wealth of research datasets about the virus and its effects that you can analyze, reuse, and contribute to. Will Dean, Research and Data Services Librarian will demonstrate how to find the best data sources relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This workshop will be offered as an online session via Zoom. You must register for this workshop. You will receive a registration confirmation email, which includes the Zoom link for the workshop. On the day of the workshop, participants should log into their accounts in order to skip the waiting room. If participants are not Temple affiliates, they should use their first and last names in order to be admitted to the session. Participants do not need a video camera or a microphone, but will need an audio connection to hear the instructor.

Please contact Will Dean, with any questions.
